Fees Registration

Registration Information:
First Step Nursery provides high quality daytime care and education for children aged three months to five years. We are located at the heart of Plumstead right in front of Plumstead train station, 78 Walmer Terrace, Elmgrove point, SE18 7AN Plumstead station bus stop is the nearest bus stop and we are on the following bus routes: 180,177,472,422,96,99 e.t.c.


Opening and closing:
First Step Nursery is open for 52 weeks a year and we are closed for one staff training day per term. The Nursery is open from 7.00am – 7.00pm, Monday to Friday. Parents are respectfully requested to collect their child/ren on time and certainly not later than 7:00pm.  Any pickup later than 7:00pm will attract an extra charge and must be paid bfore the child is collected.

Child Places:
First step is registered for a combined total of 68 children at any one time in line with Ofsted regulations. Children at the nursery are divided into three age groups:
Babies – 3 months to 2 years. (Baby room)
Toddlers – 2 years to 3 years. (Toddlers room)
Pre-school – 3 years to 5 years. (Pre-school  room)
When a child reaches the next age grouping, they will automatically be transferred to that group as soon as a vacancy arises. Fee only changes a month after the child’s birthday and transfer to the next room. When a child reaches the age of 5 years, parents MUST withdraw them from the nursery.


Registration Holding Fee:
On being offered a nursery place, parents are required to pay a registration and a deposit fee to secure and guarantee their child’s place. Failure to pay will result in the offer of a place being withdrawn and offered to someone else on the waiting list. The deposit and the registration fee will not be refunded if the parent subsequently does not take up the place offered.


Agreement to accept a place:
Upon being offered and accepting a place for your child at First Step, parents will be required to sign a legally binding contract accepting the terms and conditions and giving written parental permission for medication, trips photographs etc.
If having taken up the place, the parent seeks to withdraw the child from the nursery, they will be required to give four weeks written notice and will be liable to pay fees in full for up to four weeks from that date.
